Secure Access Service Edge Framework

Do you know what a secure access service edge framework is? Also, do you know why you need to be knowledgeable when it comes to this framework?

Secure Access Service Edge Framework

A secure access service edge (SASE) framework refers to a framework that is used to provide businesses and organizations with a way to protect their networks from external threats. Such as hackers. These frameworks are also referred to using the term service provider edge and they are used in providing the infrastructure for cloud computing.

It is the SASE framework that helps to protect the enterprise network. And at the same time, it also ensures the protection of the data transmitted by users. Then, the SASE framework is a network security feature that is available on many different networking devices. Such as routers, access points, switches, and firewalls.

Moreover, this framework was developed by a group of networking experts known as the forum for internet protocol next generation. The forum for internet protocol next generation or FIPNOG came up with this framework. So that internet service providers could be able to protect their internal networks from external threats.

The SASE framework is mainly used in virtual private networks. And it is usually deployed on the customer premise equipment or CPE hardware device. SASE framework works in a very effective manner. Especially when it comes to protecting traffic from internal threats. Such as unauthorized access, data modification, or data leakage.

Secure Access Service Edge Framework Objective

The main objective of SASE is to control outbound traffic so that only authorized users can have access to specific resources such as servers, applications, and data. The SASE functions by using a concept known as tunneling. And it works by encrypting all types of traffic that are being sent into your internal network.

A tunneling protocol known as IPsec or Internet Protocol Security uses the security features incorporated into IPv4 or IPv6. So that packets can be sent over an untrusted network without compromising security or privacy. An IPsec tunnel protects all types of traffic including email, web browsing, file transfers, VoIP calls, multimedia streaming, etc.

Moreover, an IPsec tunnel also uses two methods for securing your data known as encryption and authentication. Encryption refers to converting your data into unreadable text making it impossible for any unauthorized person to read your information. All while authentication ensures that only authorized persons can gain access to your information by using public key infrastructure or PKI technology.

Then, another objective of the SASE framework is to ensure that the communication between the customers and their business partners remains confidential. Also, SASE helps to ensure that the traffic from your customers is only accessible by authorized persons of your organization.

Then, the tunneling protocol is a core component of the SASE framework. This protocol defines how packets will be sent and received by the different devices connected to your network.

Conclusion

As you can see, it is the secure access service edge framework that helps to protect your network from external threats. Also, it is the SASE framework that allows you to enjoy safe and secure communications with your business partners.
