How to Start a Business With Only Secure Web Gateway

When starting a business, owners usually think of the security of their business, their products, and the people who will be handling their products or services. For this reason, many business owners turn to security companies to help them with their security.

However, if you’re starting a business and you don’t know how to secure it, you can turn to a much easier solution: Secure Web Gateway (SWG). SWGs are very affordable and can be set up for just about any kind of business. But what is it?

An SWG is a device that has been designed to block unauthorized access to your network. This device usually runs on an operating system that’s been designed by the same company that makes the device. This operating system is pre-installed with all of the software your business would need to keep unauthorized people out of your network.

Moreover, an SWG also comes with a firewall, which is used to block unauthorized access to your network. This is another way for hackers to gain access to your network without you knowing about it.

Features of Secure Web Gateway

The SWG has many other features that can be used for added protection:

  • A Security Rating. The security rating assigned to your gateway should be based on the type of business you run. If, for example, you operate a retail store, then a gateway with a B+ rating should be enough. If you run a classified website where users can post information for sale or trade, then an A+ rating should be enough. So, an A+ rating would provide maximum protection from intruders. As well as viruses and other harmful programs like worms and trojans.
  • Security Updates. Some SWGs are connected directly to the Internet. So they can receive updates from the manufacturer and keep your network protected against newly discovered threats.
  • Firewall. The firewall prevents hackers from gaining access to your network by blocking unwanted connections. Such as port scans and other hacking tools that are designed by hackers to gain access to networks they shouldn’t have access to.
  • Anti-Spam Software. Some spam software programs are installed onto the SWG. So they can scan emails as they enter your network to find spam emails. These spam emails can contain viruses and cause harm so they’re blocked by the anti-spam software.
  • Anti-Virus Software. Some AV software programs are installed onto the SWG. So they can scan emails and files as they enter your network to find viruses and other harmful software that can cause harm to your network.

Conclusion

So, with SWG, your entire network is protected against intruders and outside threats such as hackers, worms and trojans, viruses, spyware, and adware. This means your business will flourish in the long run if you can be marked safe from these threats.
